HONDA - THE MAGIC SNOW GLOBE

HONDA - THE MAGIC SNOW GLOBE

For some kids it feels like the magic of the holiday season passes them by because they’re stuck in the hospital undergoing treatment.

Since these kids couldn’t physically leave the hospital, we used VR to transport them to an interactive winter wonderland. A place where they could play in the snow, build a snowman, watch an amazing fireworks display and feel a bit of that holiday magic.

Every part of the experience was designed to make the kids feel like they were truly inside the real snow globe they had just been holding in their hands. The real snow globe was filled with characters and elements that the kids would instantly recognize inside the VR snow globe.

We also built a shrinking machine to further capture the imagination of the kids.

The first thing the kids saw when they put on the VR goggles was the shrinking machine and the hospital room, which were painstakingly recreated in VR. This way it felt just like they were being shrunk down and teleported inside the snow globe.

When the kids looked up inside the VR snow globe, they could see the shrinking machine towers and hints of the hospital room ceiling, which made it feel even more like they were actually inside the real snow globe.

After the experience, each kid got a surprise: they received a real version of the snow man they created inside the VR world.

Here’s the 360 video. Although it’s hard to do the experience justice without actually experiencing it with a VR headset.
